By day a sales manager from London, by night a RPS guru of the highest calibre, Bob 'The Rock' Cooper took the world by storm one balmy night in Toronto.
To the roar of thousands of delighted fans, Bob defeated over 500 competitors to take the coveted World RPS Champion award. So, what move did Bob 'The Rock' play to take this historical victory? Scissors of course:
'It's all part of the illusion. Beard, aggressive stance, I look like a rock player through and through. How many rocks do you see me playing in the final? Not many. Catch my drift?'
Bob chuckles smugly....
Jammy git you might say. Rock Paper Scissors is just pure luck.. That's precisely the naïve, ignorant attitude that got Bob where he is today:
'Strategy is everything. It's not about predicting what your opponent will throw; it's about predicting what your opponent predicts you'll throw, fool.'
Right. Thanks Bob.
Bob's got good reason to be somewhat smug and cocky. He's a worldwide phenomenon and the first British winner of the title in its illustrious history.
'We're not doing so well at football and our current rugby team stinks - but at least some of us are still doing it for Britain. My achievements deserve to be formally recognised. Where's my knighthood?'
Ok, so knighting 'Sir Bob' may be one step too far, but
the least he deserves is the BBC Sports Personality of the Year Award. Just how
many world champions do we have? Not many, especially in such a prestigious sport.

There's a new champ in town. |
